New Firewood Regulations For Oregon

SALEM, Ore. — Firewood coming from outside the Pacific Northwest will now be required to be heat treated and labeled as pest free.

The Oregon Department of Agriculture has finalized the rules for firewood being imported from other states. The rule requires firewood to be treated at a temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour to kill all the pests inside it.

The new rule prevents invasive bugs and diseases from traveling into Oregon.
